Metal braces consist of brackets, wires, and elastic bands that work together to gradually move teeth into their correct positionsThe brackets are small, sturdy metal pieces affixed to the front surface of each tooth with dental adhesive. Archwires are threaded through the brackets and act as a track to guide teeth into their desired positions. Elastic bands, also known as ligatures, secure the archwires to the brackets, applying gentle pressure to facilitate teeth movement.
